On Monday, 6th April 2015, Dr. Sumate Yamnoon, Acting President of Walailak University, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Valla Tantayothai, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Att Inganinanda Bundit, Acting Vice President for University Council Affairs, and Associate Professor Dr. Aswin Promsopa, Acting Assistant to President for Academic Affairs, cordially welcomed Dr. Kay Norton, President of University of Northern Colorado (UNC), and three executives administrators, Mr. Tom Norton, Mayor of Greeley, Dr. Robbyn Wacker Provost and Senior Vice President for the Division of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Eugene P. Sheehan, Dean of College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
Dr. Sumate Yamnoon has delivered a warm welcomed remark to the delegation and admired UNC of its well-known establishment, especially in field of education which many of Thais alumni succeeded in their variety of present professions. Dr. Sumate Yamnoon also mentioned at the meeting that he is currently acting for the President of Walailak University. The university is new and need more development particularly in teaching and learning. Hence, the visit by Dr. Kay Norton and all executives is significantly to enhance a feasibility of academic collaboration between the two universities.
Academic discussion at the meeting emphasized on staff development for the study of PhD and Post Doctoral program, developing of teaching techniques, joint research project, joint PhD teaching in Public Health, joint degree program by studying course work in Thailand and conducting research at UNC, and conducting a summer camp for students to increase English capability at UNC.
