On 22nd May 2017, Assistant Professor Dr. Sanae Rujivan, Dean of School of Science, Walailak University (WU), Dr. Udomsak Saengow, M.D., Dr. Tharin Phenwan, M.D. from School of Medicine and staff from the Center for International Affairs gave a warm welcome to Professor Dr. Ejaz Ahmed at the University Reception Room, 2nd floor, Administration Building.

Professor Dr. Ejaz Ahmed is Dean of Faculty of Math and Science and is a professor at Department of Math & Statistics, Brock University, Canada. He visited WU to give a special lecture on “Big data in healthcare” for medical and health science students.

Apart from the lecture, Dr. Ahmed has made significant advice on establishing Data Science program at WU. He suggested that WU may consider setting up the Data Science Center by asking WU academic staff who are from the various fields of computer science, engineering, medical science, science, business, and economics to join the center. This Center may start a project that very helpful for data analysis and make the most use of big data for public and private agencies who need data management as well as for the university benefits to staff and students’ research projects. In terms of academic collaboration with Brock University, Dr. Ahmed is willing to connect WU to Brock University through some academic activities. The activities such as staff and student exchange programs, joint research and seminar programs can bring a strong relationship between Walailak University and Brock University.
