Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong Swatdikul : expertise in using accounting information for business planning, control, and decision making

Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong Swatdikul, is a lecturer and program committee member for the Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Accounting at Walailak University International College. He has the expertise in using accounting information for business planning, control, and decision making.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Cost Accounting from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, a Master of Business Administration program in Accounting for Planning and Control from Kasetsart University, obtained a Master's Degree in Financial Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, and a PhD. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. His PhD. thesis was on Executive pay-performance sensitivity and its consequences: empirical evidence on the role of ownership in Thailand, where he served as a guest lecturer at the University of Southampton. He was a program committee member for a Bachelor's Degree to Doctorate degree programs in accounting at Mahasarakham University, where he also held an Assistant to the Dean position for Finance, and associated to the Dean position for Administration at Mahasarakham Business School. He also served as an assistant to the president for finance at Mahasarakrm University. He was also a guest lecturer in various universities such as Kasetsart University, Khonkaen University, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, and Prince of Songkla University.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong decided to be part of academia since 2002, as he was approached by both public and private universities to join them as a lecturer. While seeing an example of the lecturers who have taught him, he had very much respects to their sacrifice and dedication of the lecturers to provide useful knowledge to new generation. Then, he started working as a full-time lecturer at Eastern University of Management and Technology, Mahasarakrm University, and Walailak University respectively. When deciding to work as a lecturer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong has therefore planned work in line with the main mission of the university, including research work to create new knowledge about academic services for transferring knowledge to various sectors, and transferring knowledge to students. Therefore, he was determined to continue to study at the doctoral level which is the highest level of education. After completing a PhD., he devoted his time pursuing academic positions. "Assistant Professor" in order to qualify themselves in accordance with the needs of the Thai higher education institutions and in accordance with the criteria for evaluating the quality of lecturer for international rankings. This is also a guaranteed mechanism for students to be confident and proud of their teachers.

Since Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong is a lecturer in accounting, he is proud to be a part in creating high-performing human resources for the accounting professions. He believes that success of the students in the past is the driving force for creating graduates in accounting in the future. With high potential to support multinational businesses in Thailand and those foreign investments from Thailand, English proficiency and accounting knowledge are required to cope with the dynamics of a business that uses financial instruments. Students also should be ready to deal with big data, having an attitude of being a world citizen, and having morality and ethics. These qualifications have been established in the Business Administration Program in Accounting of the Walailak University International College. Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong has the expertise in using accounting information for business planning, control and decision making. He awares of the importance of value added ability to financial reporting. The use of management accounting information requires a thorough understanding of cost accounting, managerial accounting, management control, and financial management.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong said that his expertise was framed by his education background, professional experiences, and academic achievement, including cooperation with experts in the area. He is an author of Management Accounting book, a co-author Practical accounting, Principles of Accounting, and Business Finance. In addition, he has the experiences on researches related issues to financial reporting such as Fair Value Accounting of Investment Securities and Earnings Management: Empirical Evidence from Thai Listed Companies, and the Impact of Quality on Risk Disclosure on Firm Performance. The researches were intentional to establish an empirical evidence of management accounting research in a limited Thai context. Such disseminate knowledge and understanding in the application of managerial accounting in the Thai and international business contexts is his intension. In addition, Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong is determined to use current and future researches in academic services, such as being an expert in assess articles for publication in academic journals, as well as being an editorial board to develop his teaching for those high potential students to serve Thai accounting professions and international accounting professions as well.

Lastly, Asst. Prof. Dr. Trairong Swatdikun, reveals his future goals as an academician that he would like to push forward new knowledge in accounting, as well as continue to transfer his knowledge to new generations to not only be able to take care of themselves but Thai society as a whole.
