An opening ceremony of Walailak University Hospital’s headquarters

Walailak University Hospital moved to the main office on November 15th, 2021, providing for outpatients, and Inpatient Department (IPD) with 120 beds will be available in late January next year.

On November 15th, 2021 Walailak University organized the opening ceremony of the Walailak University Hospital’s headquarters.  Presiding over the event were Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong PhD, President of Walailak University, Prof. Tawadchai Suppadit PhD, vice-president for Planning and Development, and Dr. Likit Matrakul, the director of Walailak University Hospital.Together, they welcomed attendees, including patrons who have given financial support for medical equipment, administration staff, and the media, to the Administration Building, 3rd Floor Conference Room, Walailak University.

Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong stated that “Walailak University has been established by the efforts of citizens in Nakhon Si Thammarat who needed higher-educational institutions and the university hospital. We are pleased that Walailak University Hospital will be the key mechanism to enhance the well-being of people in Nakhon Si Thammarat, surrounding areas and Upper-Southern Thailand. It is also an academic source for the people to learn health sciences. It is our pleasure to play a part in strengthening our society and university to develop our institution to the next level.” 

“Today’s opening ceremony was the ceremony where we relocated the pilot hospital at the Research Institute for Health Science, which has been available for outpatients since 2017, to the headquarter of Walailak University Hospital.  On January 24th, 2022, a 120-bed in-patient hospital will be available, and in early 2023, the 419-bed service will be available, combined with the opening of the 94-bed building for monks of all regions, respectively. Thus, we expect our hospital will be prepared to accommodate over 500,000 patients per year”, said further Prof. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong.

For service in the new building, there will be a total of 15 clinics, which are a general clinic, ophthalmology clinic, check-up clinic, orthopaedic clinic, allergic and asthma clinic, Rak Chai clinic (psychiatric clinic), internal medicine clinic, obstetrics and gynaecology clinic, rehabilitation clinic, vaccine clinic, family medicine clinic and chronic disease clinic. Additional services include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT scan), fluoroscopy, mammogram, bone densitometry and ultrasound.  Walailak University Hospital is open from 8.00 a.m. - 8.00 p.m. on weekdays and 8.00 a.m. - 12 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
