Biotechnology draws on many areas of science and technology, with cutting edge applications in biological process engineering, food biotechnology, environmental control by biotechnology, and strain and line improvement by genetic engineering. Biotechnologists must be conscious of the competing demands of the food industries and alternative energy interests and appreciate the impact of science in the community. Graduates from this program will be able to work in food industry and as scientists and researchers in government and private sectors and as free-lance professional scientists.
