The Master and the Doctor of Philosophy programs are administered jointly with the Civil and Chemical Engineering Department. These programs focus on the understanding and management of physical, chemical, and biological processes in civil and environmental engineering systems. The master’s and doctoral candidates who have been taught those fundamentals will learn deeply in particular research areas which are of greater depth than that of their undergraduate work. In-depth research for the Doctoral Degree enables students to identify important issues, evaluate available information, organize and implement original research, and apply the results of research toward the solution of civil and environmental problems.
A candidate for these degrees must be a graduate of an accredited undergraduate engineering curriculum or equivalent. Recipients of a B.S. degree in a non-engineering field will also be considered for the degree emphasizing environmental engineering, but will be required to take basic undergraduate engineering makeup courses as specified by the Department. For the Ph.D. program the candidate must pass the qualifying examination approved by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Curriculum Committee.
Graduates can work in both public and private sectors , e.g. the Department of Public works, The Department of Highways, the Department of Irrigation, the Department of Accelerated Rural Development, Municipalities offices, the National Housing Authority, the Petroleum Authority of Thailand, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Express and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand ,the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, the Provincial Electricity Authority ,construction contractors, engineering consultancies, manufacturers and distributors of construction materials and accessories, Energy Policy and Planning Office, Ministry of Energy , Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand ,Office of Environmental Policy and Planning, Environmental Quality Promotion Department, and all kinds of industries.
