On 14 February 2013, Dr. Keerath Sanguansai, President of Walailak University warmly welcomed Brig. Gen. Dato Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and his delegation at Mokhalan Meeting Room, Administration Building, Walailak University. Also present at the welcome ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amara Changsub, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Chayanuvat, Assistant to the President for International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galaya Srisuwan, Dean, School of Engineering and Resources, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poonpong Boonbrahm, Dean, School of Informatics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surasi Vadhanavikit, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences and Public Health, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mudtorlep Nisoa, Dean, School of Science, Dr. Rungrawee Jitpakdee, Associate Dean, School of Management and Asst. Prof. Dr. Potjamarn Suraninpong from the School of Agricultural Technology.
Brig. Gen. Dato Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin, Vice Chancellor of UniMAP paid his first visit to Walailak University since the official MOU was signed by the two parties in August 2008. Since then, several collaborative projects/activities were launched under the singed MOU such as Student Internship Programs (English/Engineering, Environmental/International Business), the SUC-ES English Camp, the International Leadership and Soft-Skills Enhancement Camp, which was organized twice in 2012 and 2013 at WU and UniMAP.
The Vice Chancellor has a good intention to maintain the previous collaborative activities, while he welcomes an expansive into new academic collaboration activities to other fields or programs of study of the two universities. After the discussion and presentations of facilities and strengths of the two universities, there are many possible fields of study for establishing new activities such as in Biomedical Science, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship. As for the Asian University Presidents Forum 2013 (AUPF), which will be organized in October 2013 by UniMAP at Lankawi Island, Malaysia, the Leader of UniMAP also invited WU faculty members, university staff and students to be on the organizing committee for the conference. WU President agrees that WU students can take part in the conference to experience international working skills for their competency development and preparation for AEC in 2015.
