Walailak University joining hands with the public sector under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the project “Marijuana Research for Medical Innovations"

     Walailak University and Thanat Herb Siam CBD and The Social Enterprise CO., LTD. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the project “Marijuana Research for Medical Innovations”. 
   Professor Dr. Wanna Choorit, Acting president of Walailak University (WU) and Mr. Thanat Cheowchanaksorn, Chief of Executive Officer of Thanat Herb Siam CBD and The Social Enterprise CO., LTD. have recently joined an MOU signing ceremony to mark cooperation on the project Marijuana Research for Medical Innovations at Walailak University. 
Both organizations will be joining hands in promoting research on marijuana for medicinal purposes and other aspects of usage promoting the plant’s benefits, correct understanding and accessibility to public. 
   Signing as witnesses were Assist. Prof. Dr. Anurak Thungtong, Director of Walailak University Science and Technology Park and Dr. Jira Arunothaijit from The Social Enterprise CO., LTD. 
    Professor Dr. Wanna asserted that the cooperation with Thanat Herb Siam CBD and The Social Enterprise CO., LTD enunciates improvement and development of marijuana species, marijuana extracts and promotion of marijuana as economic plants. Siam Herb and Walailak University have in fact been coordinating unofficially to institute this project, so this cooperation is expected to be a collaborative success. 
“Walailak University, through Walailak University Science and Technology Park, shall be facilitating on the matter of places, workforce and research facilities to our fullest extent as agreed upon in the MOU,” said Professor Dr. Wanna. 
  Mr. Thanat Cheowchanaksorn reiterated the company’s confidence in Walailak University’s readiness to undertake the project and particularly in WU researchers’ research rigors and Siam Herb’s willingness to support the medicinal marijuana project. It has been expected that this collaboration shall broaden perspective on marijuana for medical use increasing income and boost economy as a result. 
   “Thanat herb has been operating Thai traditional medicine clinics dispensing cannabis as a treatment for cancer, Psoriasis, and AIDS. We also develop over 70 types of cannabis-infused products ranging from groceries to cosmetics. The collaboration with Walailak University shall undoubtedly crown cannabis the next important economic plant,” said Mr. Thanat.
