School of Engineering and Technology, WU virtual discussed on 3+1 program development with Harbin Engineering University, China

On 15th March 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. SURATSAWADEE Koonlaboon Korkua, Dean of School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Walailak University together with her engineering team members namely, Assistant Prof. Dr. UTHEN Thubsuang (Head of Research Institute), Assistant Prof. Dr. KAMON Thinsurat (Representative for SET International Affairs), Assistant Prof. Dr. CHARERNKIAT Pochaiya (Head of Mechanical and Robotic Engineering or a representative), Ms. SIRIPINYO Chantamunee (Representative from Computer Engineering and AI, Assistant Prof. Dr. THIMAPORN Phetkaew, and Assistant Prof. Dr. SARAWOUTH Chandhaket joined discussion with College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, Harbin Engineering University (HEU), P.R. of China via zoom cloud meeting.

The objectives of the meeting were to discuss for the possibility of joint degree program, research collaboration, staff and student exchange and co-organizing workshop or conferences. The discussion was actively participated by HEU administrators as followed, Associate Prof. LIU SIJIA, Deputy Director of International Office (IO), Ms. YIN HUA (Rebekka), Senior officer of IO, Associate Prof. CONG SHAN, College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, Prof. DING XUE ZHONG, Vice dean of the College of International Cooperative Education, Mr. LI ZHEN, Director of the international students Service office of the College of International Cooperative Education and Ms. YASUMIN THAISOMBOON, Director, Sino-Thai Science and Cultural Center of Harbin Engineering University while Assistant Prof. Dr.PATNARIN Supakorn, Acting Director of Center for International Affairs joined greeting and welcoming the participants on behalf of Walailak University.

A fruitful discussion was not only strengthen the two universities academic relationship but the two universities’ representatives also committed to join hand closely in developing the following programs:

 - Joint degree program in Computer Science and AI (2+2 or 3+1)

 - Join research publications

 - Exchange of specialist and share resources to support workshop, seminar, conference and online teaching

 - Develop cooperative education for engineering students

 - Senior project co-supervision

 - Other mutual interest

The initiative collaboration will certainly enhance engineering students to be equipped with multi skills and to suit with their future career. In addition, it will be benefit to faulty members in research publications, teaching and learning in relevant academic fields of interest.
