 Walailak University Winning Eight Awards in the Cooperative and Work Integrated Education Contest (CWIE) 2022, Soon to Represent the South in the National Level Finale


    Walailak University has won eight Awards of Excellence Cooperative Education Student Contest and applied study of 2022 and will soon proceed as a representative of Thailand’s upper south to the national level grand finale.  


    Dr. Attanan Tachopisalwong, Director of The Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development, Walailak University (WU) revealed that the center has recently organized the Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) 2022 contest, the regional round joined by over 14 upper south institutes. Winners of this round will further represent the south in the national level contest arranged by the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.


    In this regard, Walailak University succeeded in securing eight awards and is in the running toward the national round. Outstanding achievements are the Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education awards and attributed to 1) Mr. Tanva Thongkleang, a Computational Science student interning at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT) winning first prize in Cooperative Education Innovation, and 2) Mr.Sean Glenn M Pastoride, a student from Walailak University International College (WUIC) interning at Rebert Bosch Automotive Technologies (Thailand) winning first prize in Social Science, Humanities and Management category. 


    Walailak University also represented the institutes championing the CWIE following its active implementation of an 8-month cooperative study in all programs with an absence of professional council accreditation. The university also won five other prizes attributed to Ms. Mattana Perkleang, from Panel plus company co. Ltd winning as an outstanding cooperative education advisor. 


    In addition, Mr. Rerngsak Pantamas, an administration officer from The Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development also won first-runner up as an outstanding cooperative education officer in an educational institute. Ms. Patchaya Thawdaeng, Anantara Phuket Hotel chain, won an outstanding cooperative education officer in an organization award and the  Anantara Phuket Hotel chain itself won an outstanding large-scale organization’s cooperative education and the Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education award. Lastly, Marketeer CO., LTD. won an outstanding award as a medium and small-scale organization practicing cooperative education and the Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education award. 


    Dr. Attanan Tachopisalwong described the cooperative education system instituted at Walailak University as a "fast-evolving one-of-a-kind", with the period being extended from four to eight months since Academic Year 2019. The goal was to nurture Ready Graduate consistent with the university’s vision to produce “graduates with academic and practical excellence”. The university has been receiving positive responses from the organizations hosting the students The percentage of graduates officially working with the organization upon completion of the cooperative study program continued to grow significantly. Therefore, the 8-month cooperative education scheme will increase employability among graduates equipped with skills demanded by the job market.
