      Walailak University wins three national cooperative education awards in three categories including Excellence Award for Cooperative Education Innovation, Excellence Award for Cooperative Education Innovation project and Excellence Award for Large-scale Organization for Cooperative Education following the extension of cooperative study period, an 8-month period, maximizing chances for graduates’ employability. Dr. Atanan Techopisanwong, Director of The Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development, Walailak University (WU) revealed that after Walailak university’s previous success in winning eight cooperative education awards in the upper southern network round, the center has proceeded to compete to gain a national-level recognition in a contest held by the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

    On 24 May 2022, the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has completed its selection and decision of the contest of the 12th Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education contest (CWIE) 2022. Walailak University has won three cooperative education awards namely Excellence Award for Cooperative Education Innovation and excellent cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE). As for the students, Mr. Tanva Thongkleang, student from Computational Science, School of Sciences, won Excellence Award for Cooperative Education Innovation project.  Anantara Phuket Hotel Chain won Excellence Award for Large-scale Organization for Cooperative Education as proposed by Walailak University.

     Dr. Atanan said that the 8-month period is the policy that requires Cooperative and Work Integrated Education in every curriculum in order to improve the quality of graduates according what the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation emphasized concerning instituting CWIE Platform. Such adjustment has proved efficient in promoting students’ chance to be employed by the organizations they intern at. 

    “Walailak University has been prepared in every aspect, whether in the development of students and faculty, and orienting the curriculums towards cooperative education and building cooperation with enterprises. This makes students qualified both academically and professionally as needed by the current labor market,” said Dr. Atanan. 

    Dr. Atanan added, “Winning major awards in three parties involved including educational institutions, students and enterprises reiterated the strength of our cooperative education.” Walailak University is receiving the award plates in the “12th Cooperative Education Innovation and excellent cooperative and Work-Integrated Education CWIE DAY” in 2022 organized at Burapha University, Chonburi Campus on 6th June 2022.
