The cooperation started with an intercollege lecturer exchange from the UPNVJ to teach in the accountancy course, followed by the student project, the SAFE-FEB Summer School 2022 organized between 23 May and 3 June 2022. A group of students from the School of Management joined a language and culture exchange activity in Indonesia which proved quite a success. Therefore, the UPNVJ’s visit is aimed to achieve the same purpose through academic sessions, and sightseeing activities around the university and Nakhon Si Thammarat province. In the future, both institutions are taking further collaborative initiatives on the teaching and administration levels through international conferences, research, and academic publications.

Mr. Praptiningsih, SE., MM. A lecturer from the Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB), UPNVJ, said that the summer school program is one of the exchange functions for both lecturers and students. While the lecturers are immersed in discussion on academic projects, the students can engage in cultural exchange. In the context of Thailand, besides teaching and learning, sit visits provided the students with deep insights into each community and department. Likewise, taking part in culture-exchange activities with multicultural friends in a stress-free atmosphere was also the project’s highlight. Regarding this project, it was conceived under an initiative between SM SAFE WU and FEB UPNVJ as one of the cooperation strategies for transitioning the institution into internationalization. Mr. Praptiningsih also reiterated his positive impression of Thai students.

“I am proud of the Thai students’ performance. Stepping out of the comfort zone and joining the summer School program to assimilate themselves into a new unfamiliar culture means a lot of effort. They also gave their best to learn about the culture and get to know friends, lecturers, and officers from Jakarta. It reflected their higher intention for self-development and personal growth than their peers,” said Mr. Praptiningsih.
Mr. Praptiningsih said further about his rewarding experience in working with a high-performing Thai lecturer and project head, Dr. Wasin, and hoped to remain in cooperation to produce more work and expand it to other faculties.

The Summer School project operates on the basis of an inter-faculty exchange of student representatives for a short course study between the two institutions. In organizing this project, Walailak University assumes a host role welcoming 16 FEB students and 2 lecturers. Four participating courses include 1) Thai Economy 2) Digital Marketing for SMEs 3) Accounting for Enterprises 4) Thai Natural Resources & Cultural Tourism.
