Walailak University Hosts International Valentine's Day Event for Thai and International Students

Walailak University’s Center for International Affairs organized the 2023 International Valentine at WU for Thai and international students on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. The event featured an English speech contest on the topic of Love Memory, providing an opportunity for students to improve their speaking skills and make new friends.

The event started with a warm welcome from Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, who read "The Parliament of Fowls" by Geoffrey Chaucer (1382) to portray the history of Saint Valentine. Ms. Pattamabhorn Neamsaing from Akkhraratchakumari Veterinary College and Ms. Prabhada Udomwongsak from the International College of Dentistry were the hosts for the event.

The English speech contest had nine Thai and international students competing for a scholarship of 2,000 baht, and it was won by Ms. Nogah Pfeifer, an international student from Akkhraratchakumari Veterinary College. Ms. Aye Mary, a student from the International College, came in second place, and Mr. Nutchanon Imduang, a student from the School of Medicine, placed third.

The Center for International Affairs would like to express its gratitude to the three committee members who served as judges in the English speech contest: Associate Professor Dr. Thanongsak Imjai from the School of Engineering, Mr. Alexander Lee from the School of Liberal Arts, and Mr. Curt H. Barnes from the School of Science.

The 2023 International Valentine's event at Walailak University was a great success, providing students with a memorable experience and valuable opportunities for personal and academic growth.
