Walailak University is expanding its international collaboration, partnering with University Sultan Zainal Abidin to promote research and academic collaboration. The discussion of collaboration took place today at Khaoluang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building.
This marked the first visit by the Faculty of Informatics and Computing (FIK) from University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) to Walailak University after the delegation from the School of Informatics, Walailak University, previously visited UniSZA’s Gong Badak Campus.
Associate Professor Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Acting Vice President of Walailak University, presided over the meeting and briefed the FIK’s faculty members about Walailak University’s missions as a research-intensive institution. Walailak University aims to promote high-quality research to address global and national issues, as evidenced by over 90 percent of the 2023 research publications being in Scopus-indexed journals in Q1 and Q2. And Walailak graduates are cultivated to be both academically proficient and morally strong.
Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Khalid Bin Awang, who leads the faculty members from FIK, mentioned that he sees numerous potential areas for collaboration. He emphasized that FIK's primary focus is to nurture "future-ready students" who can make positive impacts on society. The faculty is also dedicated to conducting high-quality research with its international partnerships.

The areas that the two parties are interested in collaborating on, according to the discussion, include matching grants, research publications, student and staff mobility, and organizing international conferences and webinars.
