Walailak University International Exchange Scholarship (WUIES) Fund has received a generous donation of 90,000 Baht to support students in gaining international experience through short courses and exchange programs.

The donation was made today by Assistant Professor Dr. Settachai Chaisanit, Business Innovation Manager at the Expert Technology Development Company Limited, during a ceremony held at the Honor Hall of Walailak University Hospital.

Representing Walailak University to receive the donation were Dr. Mongkol Teerananond, Assistant to the President; Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs; and Ms. Hattakarn Karunpaisarn, Head of the Division of Finance and Accounting.

Dr. Settachai said that the company is pleased to be a part of the efforts in supporting students in gaining international experience and bringing knowledge to develop the country. 

He said: "Walailak University is a quality university, and we’d like to support especially in the area of education so that students can acquire knowledge and help lead Thailand towards a better future."

He also underscored the company's willingness to welcome students interested in participating in the eight-month cooperative education program to enhance their real-world working skills before entering the job market. 

“The eight-month cooperative education program is advantageous for both students' learning and the company. Students have longer time to acquire knowledge, and the company can identify and nurture their potential. After working for eight months, I believe we can make a solid decision about whether the student is suitable for the company and whether the company is the right fit for them.”

WUIES, initiated in July 2023 by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, currently stands at a total of 576,000 Baht as of 21 May 2024.
