Walailak University International Exchange Scholarship Fund Surpasses One Million Baht Since Its Establishment

Walailak University International Exchange Scholarship (WUIES) Fund, which supports students' overseas learning experiences, has surpassed one million baht since its establishment in July last year. Initiated by President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the fund aims to provide opportunities for students to gain international experience through short courses and exchange programs, particularly for those with excellent academic performance but are financially limited.

Another 80,000 Baht was added to the fund today by Mr. Surasak Osaengthammanon from Siam Thammanon Company Limited, bringing the fund's total amount to 1,011,000 Baht. The donation ceremony took place at the Honor Hall of Walailak University Hospital.

Dr. Mongkol Teerananond, Assistant to the President and primary fundraising facilitator, said, "When students have the opportunity to go abroad, it broadens their horizons. They get to see a world different from their own, which helps develop various competencies.”

Dr. Suthasinee Sangkhum, Assistant to the President, said that the benefits WUIES offers to students could last a lifetime. Apart from helping them academically and professionally in their future careers, it will help create international networks.

"Having the chance to participate in international exchanges helps increase global awareness among students. It helps students develop a broader perspective and establish international networks, which will be advantageous for their future."

“Even though the scholarship may be granted only once, it will have long-term benefits for the students. Besides, traveling abroad fosters understanding and acceptance of differences. It promotes mutual respect and helps create a peaceful, happy, and respectful global community,” she added.
