Walailak University (WU), through the Division of Student Support and Development in collaboration with partner networks, recently organized the Smile & Smart Showcase 2024: Inspiring Minds, Igniting Ideas. The event aimed to exchange best practices in student support systems and capacity-building strategies to foster "Excellence, Virtue, and Happiness" among students.

The showcase sought to identify and share the most effective methods employed by various schools within the university. It was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jaraeprapal, Vice President of WU, with Assistant Professor Dr. Arthit Boonrodchu, Assistant to the President and Acting Head of the Division of Student Support and Development, delivering the opening remarks. Over 1,500 participants attended the event, which was held at the Chopradu Food Court.

Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jaraeprapal emphasized the importance of a comprehensive, university-wide approach to student support, noting that the Division has collaborated with all schools to develop an integrated support system. This system has earned a satisfaction rating of over 85% from students, reflecting the success of the university’s student support efforts. She highlighted that the knowledge exchange in today's event will further enhance the effectiveness of each school’s programs and raise awareness of the university’s comprehensive support system among students, faculty, and staff. By familiarizing students with available support channels, the university ensures they are well-equipped to achieve "Excellence, Virtue, and Happiness" during their time at Walailak, preparing them to play a key role in the nation’s future development.

Since the 2018 academic year, WU has implemented the Smile & Smart Center initiative, involving collaborative efforts from all schools, each adapting strategies to suit their unique identities and contexts. The program has successfully enhanced student attributes, fostered collaborative networks, established a referral system for expert support, and provided ongoing, tangible assistance. These efforts also align with Walailak University’s commitment to producing graduates who are both "good and competent," in accordance with the Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF), and support the development of essential skills and characteristics for the 21st century, as outlined in the National Scheme of Education 2017-2036.
