Walailak University represented by Assistant to the President for Global Engagement, Suthasinee Sangkhum, Ph.D. actively participated in the 15th Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and the Council of Rector of Indonesian State University (CRISU) Conference, held from 3-4 October 2024 at Arnoma Grand Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
Organized under the theme "Charting the Path to Sustainable Universities: A Holistic Approach to ESG Integration," the conference gathered over 250 leaders, educators, administrators, and students from both Thailand and Indonesia. The event aimed to deepen our shared commitment to sustainability, focusing on integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the higher education ecosystem.
Keynote Speech and Collaborative Dialogues on ESG
The conference was inaugurated with a powerful keynote speech by Dr. Suvit Maesincee, former Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, who spoke on the importance of ESG—why it matters to our world, higher education, and us all. His insights inspired our conversations on how to make universities key drivers of sustainable development.
The conference also facilitated focused group discussions among rectors, deans, and students, all of whom actively engaged in sharing their experiences, challenges, and aspirations under the topic "ESG – What Can We Do and How Does It Work?" These dialogues reflected our shared vision of advancing sustainability within our academic communities.
