Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong received the Royal Command appointing him as President of Walailak University, pledging to perform his duties with integrity, adhere to principles of good governance, and foster progress for both Walailak University and the nation.
On October 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m., Walailak University held a ceremony to receive the Royal Command appointing Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong as President of Walailak University for another term. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Suwat Chansug, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province; Mr. Teerachai Chemnasiri, Chairperson of the University Council; members of the University Council; university administrators, staff, and students; heads of government and private agencies; honored guests; and media representatives. The ceremony took place in the main hall of the Thaiburi Building.
The ceremony commenced with a procession presenting the Royal Command to appoint the President of Walailak University. Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethawee, Vice President, read the Royal Command appointing the university’s president. Following this, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong paid homage before the royal portrait of His Majesty the King, presented a floral tribute, and respectfully received the Royal Command.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat expressed his gratitude, stating, 'With His Majesty the King graciously giving a royal command appointing me as President of Walailak University for a second term, effective June 30, 2024, I am deeply grateful for His Majesty’s kindness, which is an immeasurable honor to me and my family.
I am fully aware that serving as President of Walailak University is a crucial responsibility for the advancement of national education. It requires knowledge, skill, and dedication to ensure that Walailak University provides the utmost benefit to its students, educational system, and the nation.
It involves developing Walailak University into a high-quality institution, a leading research-intensive university in the nation that meets international standards, with the goal of producing quality graduates who are widely respected in society, in alignment with the university’s founding principles.
With deep gratitude for His Majesty the King’s boundless kindness in appointing me as President of Walailak University, I pledge to carry out my duties with loyalty, honesty, and adherence to principles of good governance. I will prioritize the benefits of the nation as an academic institution that fosters progress for the university, local communities, and the nation at large.”
