STT50 International Academic Conference Brings Fame to Thai Science Students

As it was reported on the last International Congress on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation held at the Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai, the two students of the School of Science, Walailak University, Ms. Nattawadi Raksakun and Ms. Piyachat Panyasiripan, have brought honor to their university by winning the 2024 Young Rising Stars of Science Awards, which were awarded respectively during the conference for which Ms. Raksakun received a Bronze Prize in Chemistry and Ms. Panyasiripan secured a Silver Prize in Physics. These awards were granted during the 50th International Congress on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation (STT50)

The research presentations were of two types, poster presentations and oral presentations, where participants were given the English language for only three minutes to detail their projects. The presentation training provided by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Punsiri Dam-o Adamczyk and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Piyaluk Nurerk and their encouraging innovativeness gave good results.

For her project, “A Study of Electrodeposited Metal Nanomaterial on Molybdenum Disulfide/Graphene Oxide for Simultaneous Detection of Ascorbic Acid, Dopamine, and Serotonin,” Ms. Nattawadi Raksakun won the Bronze Prize in Chemistry under the supervision of Asst.Prof.Dr. Sujittra Poorahong. This particular study aims at constructing a nanomaterial-based sensor that is capable of detecting key biochemical compounds accurately and within a short period of time.

Ms. Piyachat Panyasiriphan was awarded the Silver Prize in Physics for her dissertation entitled ‘Traversable Wormhole in Minimally Geometrical Deformed Trace-Free Gravity Using Gravitational Decoupling’ under the supervision of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phongpichit Channuie. Her work is concerned with theoretical physics and explores different ways of studying traversable wormholes, which is an intriguing area of focus for modern science and one that presents a great deal of challenges.

Not only can winning these highly sought-after international awards be a valuable factor in the resumes of the students, but such outstanding academic performance showcases the quality of mentorship their advisors were able to provide them and the strength and competitiveness of Thai research as a whole.

Our best regards go out to the students and their advisory teams for an accomplishment of such magnitude!
