Walailak University welcomed executives, staff, and student leaders from 22 higher education institutions nationwide for the 2nd Meeting of the Student Potential Development Committee of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) for the year 2025, held from 7-8 August 2025. The meeting was organized under the theme “Well-Being: The Foundation for Unlocking Academic and Personal Potential.”
The opening ceremony took place on 8 August 2025 at the Phattharathammaphorn Conference Room, 9th floor, Walailak University Hospital. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University. Assistant Professor Ratchot Chompunich, Vice President for Student Affairs and Sustainable Development at Kasetsart University and Chairperson of the CUPT Student Potential Development Committee, delivered the report, while Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jaraeprapal, Vice President of Walailak University, gave the welcoming remarks.
Professor Dr. Sombat emphasized that in today’s fast-changing world, knowledge and skills alone are not enough for graduates to succeed. Good well-being - covering physical, mental, and intellectual health - is a vital foundation for learning, self-development, and living in harmony with others.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including a keynote address titled “Well-Being: The Foundation for Unlocking Academic and Personal Potential” by Mr. Pongsak Thongratana, Director of the Office of Organizational Health Support (Bureau 8), Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth); panel discussions with representatives from leading universities; exhibitions showcasing student care innovations and achievements from 17 schools and three colleges of Walailak University and partner universities; and a workshop titled “Healing Together, Recharging Life” designed to foster positive energy among participants.
The meeting aimed to provide a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in promoting students’ holistic well-being - physically, mentally, socially, and intellectually. Such well-being is recognized as an essential factor in developing students into desirable graduates who will serve as a driving force for national development.
