MUEANG, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 3 September 2025 — Walailak University, led by Ms. Alisara Saramolee and the students from the School of Accountancy and Finance, visited Sri Thawi Temple to gather data for developing an accounting manual for the temple. The visit is part of the project “Temple Administration Aligning with Good Governance”, aiming to promote good governance and transparency for a temple.
This project was carried out in collaboration with various sectors, including civil society and the education sector, WU faculty members, and students, to develop the system design. During the visit, the students actively contributed to developing a flowchart of the accounting system and a financial manual, which were part of adapting the nine principles of temple governance.
In addition to Sri Thawi Temple, Wang Tawan Tok Temple has also served as a successful pilot temple in implementing these practices and has become a good model for other temples in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Walailak University’s involvement not only applied academic knowledge for the benefit of the community but also created opportunities for students to gain hands-on learning experience.
The implementation of this project aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, SDG 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels and SDG 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
