On 29 October 2025, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, officially submitted the university’s data for participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025. The submission ceremony took place at the Moklan Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building, Walailak University, with executives, deans, center directors, heads of divisions, and staff members from various units in attendance as witnesses.

In the 2024 edition, Walailak University was ranked joint 81st in the world, 6th in Thailand, and 1st in Southern Thailand for the fifth consecutive year.

Participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings represents another significant step for Walailak University toward becoming a leader in sustainable development across all dimensions.

For this ranking, the Center for Academic Services, serving as the coordinating body for the university’s sustainability-related global rankings, prepared comprehensive data for assessment in six key categories: Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), Education and Research (ED).

This year, Walailak University has made extensive preparations to provide complete supporting evidence for each indicator, reflecting the university’s progress toward becoming a Green and Sustainable University.
