Walailak University Expands International Collaboration Network at APAIE 2026 in Hong Kong



Walailak University, led by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President, together with Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President, and Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs, participated in the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference & Exhibition 2026 (APAIE 2026), held from 23–27 February 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong. The participation aimed to strengthen and expand the University’s international collaboration network with higher education institutions and global partners worldwide.

The University’s participation extended beyond program promotion. It marked a strategic initiative to advance Walailak University’s internationalization policy in a concrete and results-driven manner. As one of the most influential higher education platforms in the Asia-Pacific region, APAIE serves as a key venue for fostering global academic cooperation and enhancing institutional visibility on the international stage.

During the event, Walailak University utilized its exhibition booth as a platform to showcase its international programs, research excellence, and academic strengths. The delegation established new institutional partnerships, strengthened existing collaborations, and expanded networks for student and staff mobility.

Discussions were also initiated on joint and double degree programmes, as well as international and cross-border research collaboration with partner institutions from Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.

A total of 66 universities and international organizations scheduled meetings with Walailak University during the conference, reflecting growing international recognition of the University’s academic capabilities, research potential, and global outlook.

In addition, the WU delegation held strategic discussions with leading global ranking organizations, including QS Quacquarelli Symonds and Times Higher Education, exchanging insights on institutional development, ranking enhancement strategies, and strengthening global competitiveness.
