Walailak University and University of Phayao Share Approaches to Developing Support Staff Toward Professional Advancement

On April 1, 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Nopporn Thamrongrat, Assistant to the President for Human Resources and Organization at Walailak University, together with staff from the Human Resources and Organization Division, the Division of Corporate Communications, and representatives of Walailak University’s professional-level support staff, warmly welcomed a delegation of 14 personnel from the School of Business and Communication Arts, University of Phayao.

The delegation was led by Ms. Wongduan Sakboonruang, Acting Head of Office, and visited Walailak University to study and exchange knowledge on human resource management, support for professional career advancement, and the development of academic work for higher professional ranking. The session was held at Khao Luang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building, Walailak University.

During the visit, Assistant Professor Dr. Nopporn Thamrongrat delivered a session on “Human Resource Management and Support for Professional Advancement at Walailak University.” This was followed by a knowledge-sharing discussion on approaches to developing academic work, led by the Human Resources and Organization team, with participation from professional-level support staff representatives from various units across Walailak University.

Ms. Wongduan shared her reflections on the study visit, stating: “University of Phayao is a relatively young institution, now celebrating its 16th anniversary. The university has a policy to promote support staff toward higher professional positions by encouraging them to conduct Routine to Research (R2R) and develop operational manuals. However, only a small number of staff have successfully attained higher positions so far. Some have succeeded, while others have not. This visit to Walailak University provides us with valuable insights into effective approaches for supporting staff advancement and enhancing their professional capabilities.”

This study visit and knowledge exchange were organized under the activity “Support Next: Enhancing Capacity for Career Advancement and Building Networks among Support Staff” by the School of Business and Communication Arts, University of Phayao. The initiative aims to elevate the quality of support staff performance toward professionalism, with a focus on human resource management, career advancement support, and the development of academic work for higher professional ranking - key mechanisms in driving the missions of both the school and the university.

On April 2, 2026, the delegation is also scheduled to visit the College of Graduate Studies of Walailak University to exchange knowledge on writing research articles at the practitioner level, as well as to learn about the operations of the Center for Digital Journal Management and Multidisciplinary Academic Platform. The knowledge gained will be applied to further enhance staff capacity and strengthen inter-institutional collaboration in the future.
