GIZ Team paid a study visit to Walailak University

On 24 April 2015, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aswin Promsopa, Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs welcomed the delegation from German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), Mr. Thomas Stratenwerth, experts from Germany and GIZ-ECOSWat team to Walailak University at Mokhalan Meeting Room, Walailak University. Also present at the welcoming function were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charun Bunyakan, Dean of the School of Engineering and Resources, Mr. Suthira Thongkao, Lecturer, School of Engineering and Resources. The purpose of this visit was to take a study visit to Walailak University and field trip to Tha Di sub river basin.

On this occasion, Mr. Suthira Thongkao and Dr. Hubert Lohr, Managing Director, SYDRO Consult (GIZ consultant) gave presentation on Introduction to Tha Di sub river basin to ECOSWat project members in order to give background of water management of Tha Di sub river basin before taking a site visit to Tha Di sub river basin in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The Improved Management of Extreme Events through Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Watersheds: ECOSWat Project in Thailand has been established under an association between Department of Water Resources, Thailand and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Germany. The main object of the project is to support information about water management to community in basin areas in order to reduce problems affected by flood or drought.
