Walailak University’s Technology Clinic participated in the workshop “Enhancing the Capacity of Teachers under the Department of Learning Encouragement (DOLE) through Science, Research, and Innovation” held in Songkhla Province. The event included a welcoming session and academic service presentation to the Vice Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), followed by breakout group discussions with teachers under DOLE and technology clinic networks from Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani provinces.

The aim of the workshop was to foster collaboration and integrate science, research, and innovation into regional development efforts across southern Thailand. The program emphasized alignment with local community contexts and needs.

On this occasion, Walailak University’s Technology Clinic welcomed Mr. Supachai Jaisamud, Vice Minister for MHESI, and presented the university’s academic service initiatives in the South. These initiatives stem from research and technology applications tailored to support communities in agriculture, career development, healthcare, and environmental management.

During the event, group discussions were held between teachers under DOLE and technology clinic representatives to exchange lessons learned and plan the integration of Science, Research, and Innovation with local development needs. Delegates from network technology clinics in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani actively participated in sharing best practices.

Walailak University’s involvement in this event highlights its crucial role in linking academic research and science with tangible local development. It demonstrates the university’s strong commitment to leveraging knowledge for social good, with the goal of improving the quality of life and education in the southern region sustainably.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger – to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize partnerships for sustainable development. It also supports livelihood dimensions by aiming to create and enhance sustainable occupations that generate income and improve local well-being, based on community strengths, local contexts, and specific needs. The initiative applies academic excellence to address real-world challenges in a community-centered manner.
