Eight researchers from Walailak University have been named in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists List 2025.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists List recognizes researchers worldwide whose Scopus-indexed publications are widely and internationally cited. Their work is acknowledged to have made a significant impact in their respective fields.

Released on September 19, 2025, the list was compiled using Scopus data provided by Elsevier. It is divided into two categories: career-long citation impact, which counts citations up to the end of 2024, and single-year citation impact, which counts citations during the year 2024.

Among more than 230,000 top-cited scientists in each category, eight researchers from Walailak University earned a place on the prestigious list. Two Walailak researchers were recognized in both categories: Professor Dr. Manat Chaijan from the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry for work in Food Science, and Associate Professor Veeranoot Nissapatorn from the School of Science for work in Tropical Medicine.

Six researchers from Walailak University were listed in the single-year citation impact category. They are Associate Professor Dr. Nuttawit Wattanasakulpong from the School of Engineering and Technology for work in Civil Engineering, Dr. MD Eshrat E Alahi from the School of Engineering and Technology for work in Analytical Chemistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Mark Bedoya Ulla from the School of Languages and General Education for work in Education, Associate Professor Dr. Budi Waluyo from the School of Languages and General Education for work in Languages and Linguistics, Assistant Professor Dr. Jariya Sakayaroj from the School of Science for work in Medicinal and Biomolecular Chemistry, and Associate Professor Dr. Chuchard Punsawad from the School of Medicine for work in Tropical Medicine.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists List is determined using a variety of metrics, including citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score). Being named on the list is a significant recognition of researchers’ contributions to science and research excellence. Notably, three Walailak researchers - Professor Dr. Manat Chaijan, Associate Professor Veeranoot Nissapatorn, and Associate Professor Dr. Nuttawit Wattanasakulpong - have been recognized for five consecutive years since 2021. Dr. MD Eshrat E Alahi has been listed for three consecutive years since 2023, while Associate Professor Dr. Chuchard Punsawad has been listed for two consecutive years since 2024.
