On 26 September 2025 at 12.55 p.m., His Majesty the King graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana to preside over the degree conferral ceremony for Walailak University graduates of the academic year 2024. The ceremony took place at the Thaiburi Building Auditorium, Walailak University, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. On this occasion, the President of the University Council, the President of Walailak University, executives, faculty members, students, and members of the public gathered to pay their respects and welcome Her Royal Highness.
At the ceremony, Her Royal Highness conferred one Honorary Doctorate, one Honorary Master’s Degree, 14 Doctoral Degrees, 43 Master’s Degrees, and 2,162 Bachelor’s Degrees. She also presented 46 gold medals to graduates with first-class honors, three Walailak Awards to outstanding graduates for exemplary social contributions, two Meritorious Service Awards to individuals who rendered distinguished service to the university, three WU Princess Chulabhorn Gold Research Awards to outstanding lecturers, and two WU Distinguished Lecturer Awards.
On this auspicious occasion, Her Royal Highness delivered a royal address stating: “Graduates who have successfully completed their studies surely understand the meaning and importance of the degree certificate, which serves as evidence of one’s academic competence in the field of study pursued with diligence and effort. Such recognition reflects that graduates are capable of pursuing careers and contributing to society through their academic knowledge. However, professional experiences also play a vital role. If one knows how to apply those experiences alongside academic knowledge with adherence to professional ethics, the work will be effective and fruitful. Moreover, this will enhance and broaden one’s knowledge and ability. By doing so, graduates will be able to achieve greater success - the success of living a meaningful life and undertaking work that truly leads to prosperity and goodness.”
In the academic year 2024, Walailak University continued to pursue its commitment to becoming a university of quality and global standing. According to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, the university is ranked 1201+ globally and joint 6th in Thailand. In the THE Young University Rankings 2024, Walailak is ranked 501+ worldwide and joint 3rd nationally, while in the THE Asia University Rankings 2024, it is placed 501+ in Asia and 12th in Thailand.
