Walailak University Strengthens Partnership with Zhongnan University of Economics and Law through Double Degree Program and Student Internships

WU delegation participates in the 2025 Nanhu International Education Week hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) in Wuhan, China.

Walailak University (WU), through the School of Liberal Arts, was invited to participate in the 2025 Nanhu International Education Week, hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) in Wuhan, China, from 1 to 3 November 2025.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of WU, was honored to deliver the opening address and a keynote speech titled “From Partnership to Possibility: China–Thailand Pathways for International Education in the AI Era” on 1 November 2025.

On the same day, Assistant Professor Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Director of the Center for International Affairs, represented WU in the event’s stage presentation, where she introduced the university’s international programs to participating institutions. WU also operated a promotional booth showcasing its international programs, which drew strong interest from attendees.

The event was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Chinese Language Double Degree Program between the two universities on 3 November 2025. The program has received full endorsement from both institutions. During the signing ceremony, the two universities also discussed further areas of collaboration to strengthen academic and research partnerships.

In addition, ZUEL arranged for the WU delegation to visit two leading enterprises in its network - FibreHome, a top manufacturer of fiber optics for digital communication, and Xiaomi, a major producer of electric vehicles. The delegation also had the opportunity to experience the Optics Valley Suspended Monorail, one of Wuhan’s most remarkable innovations. ZUEL further expressed its willingness to facilitate cooperative education (internship) placements for WU students at its partner enterprises in the future.
