The International College of Dentistry at Walailak University has been granted the highest level of accreditation for seven years by the Dental Council of Thailand, reaffirming the excellence of its education quality and internationally recognized standards in dental education.

Associate Professor Dr. Poonsak Pisek, Dean of the International College of Dentistry, revealed that the Dental Council recently approved the university’s Doctor of Dental Surgery (International Program) for a seven-year accreditation period (2026–2032), the maximum duration granted by the council.

The evaluation covered two major areas: the revised 2026 curriculum structure and the institution’s readiness across all 15 assessment criteria. These included the capabilities of administrators and faculty members, a clearly defined strategic plan, as well as modern infrastructure and learning support facilities aimed at producing globally competent dental professionals.

Associate Professor Dr. Poonsak highlighted three key factors behind the college’s achievement of the highest accreditation level. First, the curriculum has enabled students to achieve a 100% pass rate in the professional licensure examination. Second, the college has expert faculty members across 14 dental specialties. Third, its strong international network allows students to participate in overseas study visits in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and across Europe at least twice during their studies. In addition, students gain multidisciplinary learning experiences in both Bangkok and Nakhon Si Thammarat, exposing them to diverse professional contexts in urban and regional communities.

The college is also committed to technological excellence by fully integrating Digital Dentistry into its undergraduate curriculum. Fifth- and sixth-year students are trained using advanced technologies such as digital scanning systems, equipping Walailak University dental graduates with the skills needed to keep pace with 21st-century dental innovations.

“Feedback from employers of graduates from the college’s first two graduating cohorts has been highly positive. Employers particularly commend their English communication skills and human skills, including maturity, patience, and problem-solving abilities in real-world situations. As a result, our graduates enjoy broad career opportunities in both public and private hospitals, as well as further studies in Thailand and abroad,” said Associate Professor Dr. Poonsak.

Looking ahead, the college aims to move forward under its vision of “Think Global, Act Local.” The institution seeks to cultivate students with a global mindset through international learning experiences while encouraging social responsibility through patient care services in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Southern Thailand. At the same time, the college continues to promote research and innovation to advance the field of dentistry.

“We want this college to feel like a family where students receive close and comprehensive support in both academics and daily life. With our exceptionally high faculty-to-student ratio, we invite the younger generation to experience cutting-edge dental technology and open the door to becoming globally minded dental professionals together with Walailak University,” Associate Professor Dr. Poonsak concluded.
