The Center for Academic Services of Walailak University, in collaboration with Asst. Prof. Dr. Wararat Whanchit from the School of Liberal Arts and university students, conducted Sub-Activity 7: “Enhancing English Language Skills for Education and Careers in the Community” under The Integrated Multidisciplinary Programs for Sustainable Educational Outreach to Communities Surrounding the University.” The activity was carried out at the Satit Walailak Pattana Community Early Childhood Development Center and Wat Khok Lek Early Childhood Development Center in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The activity aimed to enhance the English language skills of early childhood teachers by integrating English into learning activities and practical classroom situations. The initiative enabled teachers to apply English in their teaching practices, create an appropriate learning environment for young children, and promote children’s exposure to English through everyday routines and activities.

As part of the activity, participants engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions and practiced using English in real-life situations. The team also observed and followed up on how teachers applied English in their classroom instruction. In addition, video footage was recorded and teachers were interviewed in English to develop learning and public relations materials showcasing the outcomes of the activity. These materials are intended to serve as self-learning resources that teachers can use for review and further study, as well as provide a model for integrating English into learning management at child development centers.

The activity reflects Walailak University’s commitment to transferring knowledge and expertise from the University to local communities through collaboration among faculty members and students. This collaborative approach contributes to strengthening the capacity of community-based educators and improving the quality of learning in a sustainable manner.

The activity also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting lifelong learning and strengthening the capacity of educational personnel, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among the university, government agencies, and community networks to support educational development. The activity also aligns with the “WU HAPPY TREE” framework in the area of education.
