A delegation from Tadulako University visited Walailak University to strengthen academic collaborations

On 17 May 2013, Asst. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Chayanuvat, Assistant to the President for International Relations and the representative of the WU President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethaveegave, Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology and his faculty staff, gave a warm welcome to seven professors from Tadulako University, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia namely Prof. Alam Anshary, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Marsetyo, Secretary of International Office/Faculty of Animal Science, Prof Asriani Hasanuddin, Vice Dean for Administration, Faculty of Animal Science, Dr. Rudin, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Animal Science, Dr. Jhony Salam, Dean of Faculty of Law, Prof. Juraid, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Mrs. Sumarni, Faculty of Social and Political Science.

Prof. Marsetyo, a secretary of International Office of Tadulako University stated the objective of this visit was to strengthen and deepen academic collaboration activities between Walailak University (WU) and Tadulako University (UNTAD). The MOU between the two universities was signed since 29 August 2012. Its collaborative frame covers exchange of students, faculty members and staff, exchange of scientific materials, publications and information, joint research and academic meetings or training programs. The Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology declared that the School will send three WU students to Tadulako under a research collaborative activity very soon.

The visitors were divided in two groups based on their fields of interest. One was attached to the School of Agricultural Technology and was taken to visit the School in the morning and a dairy goat farm at Na Kien Community in the afternoon. The other was welcomed by faculty members of the School of Liberal Arts and they also had an opportunity to discuss more about feasible collaborations between the two parties.

The delegates met Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amara Changsub, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at the Orientation Program of WU 2013 Incoming Graduate Students on Saturday, 18 May 2013 before they left for the airport. Meeting with the delegates from Tadulako opened up students’ outlook for the ASEAN community and internationalization.
