Trichoderma 5 Plus, Walailak University, was named first runner-up in Thailand Synergy's "7 Innovation Awards 2021" for Thai SMEs.

 

Associate Professor Dr. Warin Intana, Acting Dean of Walailak University's School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, revealed that he and his team recently entered into the "Trichoderma 5 Plus" (International Standard Biological Products) contest and had advanced to the finals of the best innovation award contest "7 Innovation Awards 2021", held on October 21, 2021, at the event "Thailand Synergy for Thai SMEs 2021." The competition attracted 149 entries from researchers, SMEs, and startups from across the country.

The contest's results revealed that "Trichoderma 5 Plus" (International Standard Biological Products) won the first runner-up award in the field of social innovation, 7 Innovation Awards 2021, and was awarded a prize of 100,000 baht, as well as a plaque of honor and a certificate.

"Through research and development in five areas, fungal biochemistry, fungal ecology, fungal genetics, plant-fungal interaction, and bio-model development, Trichoderma 5 Plus is an innovative bio-innovative antifungal pesticide with high efficiency that improves crop yield and quality and is safe from pesticide contamination", said Associate Professor Dr. Warin Intana.

 

In this project, 7-Eleven organized a Virtual Event in collaboration with 11 key national partner organizations with the goal of identifying innovative products from SMEs and Thai startups that have the potential to develop into innovative products and services to meet consumer needs until they are accepted nationally or globally. It was also intended to provide an opportunity for SMEs entrepreneurs to test their potential to increase their national innovation capabilities. The contest winners will be able to expand their business through a variety of distribution channels, including 7-Eleven stores, with branches across the country, all online channels in the 7-Eleven app, and 24shopping, as well as future affiliates.
