Walailak University achieved 4.93 out of 5 in the 2020 educational quality assurance, the highest in history.

On November 22, 2021, Prof. Dr Tawadchai Suppadit, Walailak University's Vice President of the Division of Planning and Development Strategy, announced the results of the quality assurance assessment at the university level.  The quality assurance assessment is based on the WUQ framework and consistent with the basic international criteria of the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance). Overall, Walailak University received average ratings of 4.93 out of 5 in the academic year 2020, which is extraordinary and the highest result since the university's inception.

Prof. Tawadchai went on to say that when considering the five components individually, Walailak University received 4.99 points in the first component: Organizational Leadership, the second component: Educational Management received 4.78 points, the third component: Researching received 4.98 points, the fourth component: Academic Service and Preservation of Arts and Culture received 5.00 points, and the fifth component: Management and Quality Assurance received 4.94 points respectively.

Furthermore, while examining the trajectory of such assessment scores over the previous five years, it is evident that Walailak University has improved continually. It was 4.42 points in the academic year of 2015, 4.64 points in 2016, 4.66 points in 2017, 4.75 points in 2018, 4.80 points in 2019, and 4.93 in the recent year, 2020. Therefore, it can be observed, except for 2015, that Walailak University has consistently attained excellent evaluation scores.

Besides, he explained that the university's success stems from establishing a clear strategy for becoming a high-quality institution, reforming teaching under the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), developing students to be knowledgeable in 21st-century skills, improving quality faculty and support personnel, and advancing the university's technologies infrastructure, along with promoting Walailak University as a Green University.

There is also the development of IT systems under the Smart University policy, the development of an achievement-oriented management system, the development of research publications in Scopus Quartile 1 and 2, and the development of academic services to meet the needs of community members.

"Currently, Walailak University is ranked 767th in the world by SCImago Institutions Rankings 2021, 601-800th in the world by THE (Times Higher Education) Impact Rankings 2021 in Sustainable Development, 551-600th in Asia by QS Asia University Rankings 2022, 5th in Thailand by Nature Index Ranking 2021, and 219th in the world by the World Green University Rankings 2020. Besides, the university's next step is to pursue worldwide accreditation and greater global rankings,’’ Prof. Tawadchai concluded.
