Walailak University International College (WUIC) officially welcomes a new batch of international students to Walailak University in the WUIC Orientation 2022

Walailak University International College (WUIC) officially welcomes newly enrolled international students in the WUIC Orientation 2022 presided over by Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, executives, personnel and international students at Khao Luang conference room, Cooperative Building, Walailak University. 


On August 9th, 2022 Walailak University International College (WUIC) welcomes the new international students totaling 20 students from 7 countries including Russia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, China and Burma. Presiding over the event was Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charan Boonkarn, Acting Vice President of Walailak University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piboon Puriveth, Acting Dean of Walailak University International College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchita Manajit, Acting Vice President of Walailak University and Dr. Chirawat Wattanapanich, Acting Deputy Director of the Center for International Affairs (CIA), Walailak University together with WU staff and students. 


President Sombat, on this occasion, gave a welcome speech to WUIC international students highlighting the university’s mission and commitment to ensuring the students’ quality learning experience inculcated as a result of WU’s adoption of The UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). 


“Walailak University is 100 % operating under the UKPSF teaching and learning framework predicated on learner-centeredness, a breeding ground for critical, analytical and synthetic thinking, instead of solely relying on memorization,” said President Sombat. 


    Currently, 531 lecturers out of a total of 600, exceeding 90%, have been UKPSF-certified officially guaranteeing their standard teaching caliber. Prof. Dr. Sombat also emphasized the university’s teaching culture revolving around the lecturers’ constant research as a Frontier Research university, small class teaching enabling rapport, close consultation between the students and lectures and advances in technologies and facilities i.e., over 150 Smart Classrooms, Digital laboratories, and sports complexes. 

 


  

     “Before you walk away from Walailak University, I promise we will have succeeded in becoming a world ranking university and you will be proud to be an alumnus of Walailak University,” said President Sombat. 


    Following was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charan Boonkarn, Acting Vice President, congratulating the students on passing a selection process and emphasizes the university’s assistance systems for international students to ensure their comfortable and home-like living vibes. 

 

 
  

 “I want to assure you that you have made the right decision to be part of our university. Besides academics, we will be taking care of you as our own children,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charan. 


    Associate Professor Dr. Piboon Puriveth, Acting Dean of Walailak University International College and a specialized professional in international education administration talked about the benefit of learning and living in an international community enriching learning experience through diversity of teachers, students and culture. Acting Dean also gave his perspective on key to success as a learner. 


“To be successful, you need to work hard, decisive and equip yourselves with confidence,” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Piboon. Walailak University International College (WUIC) is an international college within Walailak University, located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. The college offers courses in business administration, law and engineering. The college also offers a number of opportunities including scholarships and tuition and fee waiver of up to 57,500 Thai baht and overseas internship.
