Walailak University organizes the 1st International Symposium in Management Studies 2022 (ISMS 2022)

Walailak University led by School of Management, Center of Excellence for Tourism Business Management and Creative Economy and Center of Excellence in Logistics and Business Analytics, Walailak University, would like to invite you to join the 1st International Symposium in Management Studies 2022 (ISMS 2022) on September 9th, 2022. 


     On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, gave an opening speech reinforcing the university’s education development policies on use of English as a language of instruction, UKPSF-certified lecturers recently reaching 542 in number and students’ close care through curricular management. 


    “The school of management offers four major programs including Professional Chef, Logistics, Tourism and Digital Marketing. With more administrators appointed, namely Associate Dean, in every school, students are ensured close care. This is the effort we put to strengthen every school further,” said Professor Dr. Sombat. 


      Professor Dr. Sombat added, “Knowledge is the most valuable thing in the world, so we would like to make this first international symposium a chance to celebrate the wellness of knowledge for success.”


     The symposium highlights the turns taken in the management field in response to changes for the purpose of sustainable growth. Four keynote speakers including Asst. Prof. Dr. Ake Pattaratanakun, Department of Marketing Chulalongkorn Business School, Chulalongkorn University, Dr. Anderson Ngelambong, Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA Penang Branch, Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Sompong Sirisoponsilp, Ph.D. School of Agricultural Resources, Chulalongkorn University Dr. Farah Adibah binti Che Ishak, Department of Food Service and Management, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. Each of the digital speakers delivered a talk on branding in the digital age, tourism destination digital marketing in the new era, myths in Thailand's national logistics development policy and technology management: Staging digital experience in foodservice industry respectively. 

 


    Despite expertise in distinct topics, the speakers converged on adjusting management strategies to remain profitable and avoid risks of going bankrupts for businesses. For example, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ake Pattaratanakun, Department of Marketing Chulalongkorn Business School, Chulalongkorn University, talked about branding in the digital era by integrating the world of theories with that of practice. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ake reiterated necessities of some world famous brands going bankrupt as a result of a lack of relevant dynamics in the digital era. He also talked further about analyzing marketing using various level thinking frames to be in sync with any social phenomenon. As for Dr. Anderson, he focused on reviving tourism destinations and talked about use of smart phones, global digital growth, measurable performance, flexibility and customer engagement etc. 


     The afternoon will be parallel sessions starting from 1.00 to 3.30 a.m., divided into Room I highlighting topics on sustainability, logistics & supply chain management, business analytics, and Room II being about creative economy, tourism and digital marketing, new marketing and management in digitally connected world. 

       About the next year's plan on the policy of the school of management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Dean of the School of Management, mentioned the future direction of the school, “We have produced 25 batches of students and are accepting applications for the 26th batch. We are taking further steps toward internationalization.”
