Walailak University under collaboration with The Health Systems Research Institute (OSMEP), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the National Health Security Office (NHSO) Area 11, Sichon Hospital and Koh Samui Hospital signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Telehealth to provide medical services to patients in the upper southern region. 

    On September 14th, 2022, Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, along with Mr. Nopporn Cheanklin M.D., Director of the OSMEP, Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Mrs. Panit Manokarn, Director of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) Area 11, Mr. Arak Wongvorachat M.D., Director of Sichon Hospital and Dr. Rattanapol Lorprasertkul M.D., Director of Koh Samui Hospital forged an official cooperation in an MOU signing in support of “Telepath” to provide medical services to Thailand’s upper southern residents with 6 institutes mentioned above. Witnessing the ceremony at Hua Taphan Meeting Room, Walailak University Hospital, were the university administrators, personnel and researchers representing all parties. 

    Walailak University and the partner institutes significantly recognize the importance of information technology development and its implementation in caring for patients and addressing the COVID 19 spread accelerating use of the information technology more than ever, mainly to minimize patients’ hospital visits. 

    OSMEP has been endorsing plans on Telehealth development to employ the technology for the care of diabetic patients Types 2 and high blood pressure patients for Walailak University. The aim is to advance the application of Telehealth in collaboration with the NSTDA with Sichon Hospital, Kho Samui Hospital and NHSO Area 11 acting as supporting units. The MOU will remain effective for a period of 3 years.
