Walailak University President and the University Administration Team Welcoming New Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

     On 6 October 2022, Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, together with vice presidents and assistants to the president, Walailak University Hospital executives, and the University staff welcomed Mr. Apinan Phuakphong, Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Ms. Phichanan Phuakphong, Chairman of the Interior Housewives of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Mr. Trairat Chairat, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and delegation at Fame Room, Administration Building, Walailak University Hospital. The official visit of the new governor allowed an opportunity for discussions and cooperation between the two organizations in many areas.


     On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong introduced the University administration team as well as reported on Walailak University progresses, such as a progress of Walailak University Hospital, a progression plan towards a quality university, a plan to enter the world university rankings, and an increasing number of freshmen, especially last year, which was up to more than 3,500, the highest number ever recorded.


     At the moment, Walailak University has been improving its facilities, to be more beautiful, more learning friendly, and more comfortable, so that students can live happily within the campus: There are Smart Classrooms, modern laboratories, and Walailak University Botanic Park with Bota Sky Tower - a new tourist attraction in Nakhon Si Thammarat.


     In addition, Walailak University also places importance on community. With its research, the University has been assisting in improving community economy sustainably. The Blue Crab Bank Project helps increase number of marine blue crab, and income of people living in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani. There are other projects funded by Nakhon Si Thammarat Province: The project to improve and expand roads around the University, and the Monkey Cheek of Walailak University, a reservoir construction project, for managing water consumption in Walailak Univeristy Hospital and community nearby, solving flood problem during rainy season, and saving water for summer.
