Embracing Global Trends! Walailak School of Management Hosts International Conference Promoting Carbon Neutrality

On 28 March 2024, the School of Management, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and the internal research network of Walailak University, organized the international academic conference titled "Carbon Neutrality in the Creative Economy". The conference aimed to drive carbon neutrality and the creative economy for establishing a sustainable carbon-neutral economy in response to current global trends.

The event facilitated knowledge exchange among international scholars and private-sector experts. Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President of Walailak University, presided over the opening ceremony, with Assistant Professor Dr. Pimlapas Pongsakornrungsilp, Acting Dean of the School of Management, delivering the opening remarks. The conference took place at Pattarathammaporn Chamber, Walailak University Hospital.

Assistant Professor Dr. Pimlapas Pongsakornrungsilp stated that the international academic conference attracted a total of 110 participants, both online and onsite, showcasing a keen interest from the community in driving carbon neutrality. Walailak University, as an educational institution, presented research on carbon neutrality as a case study, contributing to knowledge exchange among both local and international speakers.

Furthermore, the event also featured Show & Share: Carbon Neutral Practices by Krabi Local Business, demonstrating carbon footprint reduction initiatives and exchanging experiences in driving the carbon-neutral economy. The event also included research presentations and poster sessions in English.

"Currently, global trends emphasize the development of businesses and initiatives focusing on carbon neutrality. Thailand has also made commitments to the world to reduce our country's carbon footprint. Therefore, every sector is emphasizing the importance of reducing carbon emissions. Higher educational institutions, as knowledge centers, are developing various knowledge and tools by utilizing research to guide industrial sectors in advancing future businesses," said Associate Professor Dr. Pimlapas.
