Walailak University Ranked 501-600 Among Young Research-Intensive Universities Worldwide in 2024

Walailak University has been ranked 501-600 among young research-intensive universities worldwide, according to Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2024. In Thailand, the university holds the joint third position out of five young Thai universities ranked.

The 2024 rankings, released on May 14th, feature 673 universities from 79 territories, up from 605 universities in 78 territories last year. The rankings assess universities, founded between 1974 and the present, meaning those 50 years or younger, across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

The methodology behind the assessment is based on the same 18 indicators, grouped into five areas, as THE World University Rankings. However, the weightings have been adjusted to better reflect young universities. Among the five areas, Walailak University performs best in international outlook, followed by research quality, teaching, research environment, and industry.

Among worldwide young research-intensive universities, 499 institutions are listed as “reporter”, indicating the submission of data for assessment but not meeting the eligibility criteria for ranking.
