Walailak University Awards Scholarships to 1,686 Students, Totaling 83.5 Million Baht



Walailak University awarded scholarships of the academic year 2023 to 1,686 students, totaling 83,582,370 baht. The event, organized by the Division of Student Support and Development, was held on September 12, 2024, at Hua Taphan Chamber, Walailak University Hospital.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, along with scholarship donors, presented scholarships to the recipients. He encouraged the students to use their scholarships wisely, remain determined and dedicated in honor of the donors, maintain discipline, and be well-behaved. Furthermore, he urged them to seek opportunities to contribute to society and wished them success in their academic and future careers.

"I am deeply grateful to all the scholarship donors for their generosity. Many have continuously supported our students. May your kindness bring you happiness, prosperity, and good health throughout your life," said Professor Dr. Sombat.

Assistant Professor Dr. Urai Jaraeprapal, Vice President of Walailak University, explained that the scholarships were funded by government support, the university’s budget, and contributions from various government and private organizations, foundations, and donors both within and outside the university. A committee was appointed to select students who meet the eligibility criteria for each scholarship, track their academic performance, and visit students' families to ensure ongoing support.

The 2023 scholarships came from 164 funding sources, providing financial support to 1,686 students, totaling 83,582,370 baht. Of this amount, 64,617,850 baht was contributed by the university. Additionally, Krungthai Bank Public Company Limited donated 1,500,000 baht to Walailak University students in support of the academic year 2024.
