Six researchers from Walailak University have been named in Stanford University’s World's Top 2 Percent Scientists List for 2024.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists List recognizes researchers from around the world whose Scopus-indexed publications are widely and internationally cited. Their research is acknowledged to have made a significant impact in their respective fields.
The list, released on September 16, 2024, by Stanford University, was created using Scopus data provided by Elsevier through the ICSR Lab. It is divided into two categories: career-long citation impact, which counts citations up to the end of the year 2023, and single-year citation impact, which counts citations during the calendar year 2023.
Over 100,000 top-cited scientists globally, six researchers from Walailak University have earned their place on the prestigious list.
Two Walailak researchers have been recognized in both categories: Professor Dr. Manat Chaijan from the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry for work in Food Science, and Associate Professor Veeranoot Nissapatorn from the School of Allied Health Sciences for work in Tropical Medicine.
Four Walailak researchers were listed in the single-year citation impact category: Dr. MD Eshrat E Alahi from the School of Engineering and Technology for work in Analytical Chemistry, Professor Dr. Sittichai Koontongkaew from the Walailak University International College of Dentistry for work in Dentistry, Associate Professor Dr. Nuttawit Wattanasakulpong from the School of Engineering and Technology for work in Materials, and Associate Professor Dr. Chuchard Punsawad from the School of Medicine for work in Tropical Medicine.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists List is determined using a variety of citation metrics, including the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts. Being named on the list is a significant recognition of researchers’ contributions to science and research excellence. Notably, three Walailak researchers have been recognized on the list for four consecutive years since 2021 namely Professor Dr. Manat Chaijan, Associate Professor Veeranoot Nissapatorn, and Associate Professor Dr. Nuttawit Wattanasakulpong.
