Walailak University Partners with Victor Sports to Elevate Badminton Excellence

Walailak University (WU) has joined hands with Victor Sports (Thailand) Co., Ltd. through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at advancing badminton development toward excellence. The collaboration covers comprehensive sports equipment support and the creation of professional experiential learning opportunities for students.

The signing ceremony took place on 10 January 2026 at Maejo University in Chiang Mai. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of WU, and Mr. Zhang Hao, Representative of Victor Sports (Thailand) Co., Ltd., officially signed the agreement, witnessed by senior executives from both organizations.

Professor Dr. Sombat said that Walailak University places strong emphasis on promoting sports of all kinds to enhance the quality of life for students and staff. Badminton, in particular, has gained remarkable popularity within the university community. In response to growing demand, the university has expanded its facilities from the original eight courts to a second building with 12 courts, and is currently constructing a third building with an additional 14 courts to accommodate both university members and the general public.

“This collaboration with Victor Sports will significantly strengthen the university’s badminton ecosystem in all dimensions - from hosting internal and external competitions to student development in collaboration with other educational institutions,” said Professor Dr. Sombat. “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Victor Sports for recognizing the university’s potential, and I am confident that this partnership will lead to continued progress in the future.”

The partnership also aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and information to enhance the organization of badminton competitions in line with international standards. Moreover, it serves as an important platform for building sports collaboration networks between educational institutions and the private sector, directly contributing to the development of students’ skills, practical experience, and learning outcomes, as well as benefiting personnel involved in sports development.
