On 25 September 2026, at 1.26 pm, His Majesty the King graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana to preside on his behalf over the conferment of degrees to graduates of Walailak University for the 2025 academic year, at the main hall, Thaiburi Building, Walailak University, Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province.

One distinguished scholar received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree, and a total of 2,776 graduates — at the doctoral, master's and bachelor's levels — received their degrees from Her Royal Highness.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also presented the Medal of Honor to 50 graduates who achieved first-class honours; the Walailak Award plaque to three graduates recognized for their contributions to society and for serving as role models; the Plaque of Merit to three individuals who have rendered outstanding service to society and to the university; the Princess Chulabhorn Gold Research Award Pin to three faculty members for outstanding research achievement; and the Distinguished Teacher Pin to four faculty members for outstanding academic work.

Walailak University is a leading institution of higher education, recognized both nationally and internationally as a leading university of sustainability. Through its sustained focus on developing science, research and innovation, the university has achieved clear, tangible results for the economy and society — ranking 77^th in the world and first in southern Thailand for the seventh consecutive year in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, and receiving the Outstanding Research Organization Award 2026 from Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) for the second consecutive year.

The university has also partnered with researchers from Murdoch University in Australia to develop a 3D-printed seagrass planting pod, made from naturally biodegradable bioplastic, capable of restoring marine ecosystems — seagrass being the most important primary food source for the dugong.

Marking the 34^th anniversary of its founding in 2026, Walailak University continues to advance toward becoming an internationally recognized leading university of sustainability, ranking in the 1201+ band worldwide and joint sixth place in Thailand in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.

In her address to the graduates, Her Royal Highness offered guidance for their future conduct, saying in part:

"The degrees you have received today stand as proud confirmation of your achievement. It is my sincere hope that, as each of you goes on to build your life and career, you will put the knowledge and abilities gained through your studies to the fullest use — for yourselves, your organizations and the nation — with honesty and integrity, and with a strong sense of responsibility toward your duties and society. May you all join forces to apply your knowledge in solving problems and in helping to drive society toward sustainability. In doing so, each of you will attain even greater success: a life of meaningful work, lived in the path of goodness and progress."
