Young participants step into the role of dentists and dental assistants, practicing on training models

The International College of Dentistry at Walailak University, together with the children’s program “Kid’s Club” on Thai PBS, Thailand’s public broadcaster, held the “Dentist Junior Camp” on October 11, 2026. More than 30 young people took part.

The camp aimed to encourage learning outside the classroom, inspire young participants and promote an accurate understanding of the role of dentists.

Participants took on the roles of dentists and dental assistants, trying out dental instruments and practicing on training models. Activities included placing fillings, staining dental plaque, learning proper tooth-brushing techniques and simulating work in a dental clinic.

Dental faculty members and the college’s student club guided the participants closely and shared their own experiences. The camp gave the children a chance to discover their interests and strengths through hands-on experience.
