Walailak University Celebrates Being Ranked 501+ in the World by Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2023.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, along with the university's administrators celebrated the university's success in being ranked 501+ globally and joint third in Thailand by Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2023. This is the first time Walailak University has been ranked in the Young University Rankings among the 605 universities worldwide. The celebration took place on Monday 3 July 2023, at Pattarathammaporn Chamber, Walailak University Hospital.

Professor Dr. Sombat expressed that after seven years of collaborative efforts, Walailak University has transformed from an unranked university to one that is now globally recognized. Previously, Walailak University has been ranked 1501+ globally and 11th in Thailand by THE World University Rankings 2023. The university was assessed against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and received a ranking of 401-600 globally in THE Impact Rankings 2023. Moreover, Walailak University was ranked 601+ in Asia by THE Asia University Rankings 2023.

Considering Thai universities with higher world rankings than Walailak University, there are only 10 universities. And among young universities, Walailak University is ranked joint third. The current ranking is not a coincidence but the outcome of understanding the evaluation criteria, knowing what needs to be done, and working towards clear objectives.

“Today is a great opportunity for all the university administrators to be the driving force and encourage every staff member to work hard with dedication. By coming together, sharing, and taking pride in this achievement, we are confident that our ranking will continue to improve in the coming years. This success is not just a dream but a reality resulting from the determination of each and every one of us," said Professor Dr. Sombat.

During the event, the university's administrators extended their gratitude to the president for his leadership, which has contributed to the development of the university and its recognition as a world-class university. The event also included the presentation of video clips and giving commemorative gifts to 11 units that supported Center for International Affairs in submitting evaluation data.
