Walailak Research Center in Tropical Pathobiology Organizes Webinar on Antimalarial Drug Resistance and Discovery from Medicinal Plants

Walailak Research Center in Tropical Pathobiology organized a webinar focusing on the latest developments in antimalarial drug resistance and the discovery of antimalarial compounds from medicinal plants. This online event took place on 28 March 2024, during the Walailak Research Convention 2024.

The Annual International Webinar 2024, titled "Updates in Antimalarial Drug Resistance and Antimalarial Drug Discovery from Medicinal Plants," was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Nonthapan Phasuk, Vice Dean of the Walailak School of Medicine, who also delivered the opening speech. Participants comprised researchers and academic staff from both Thailand and Malaysia.

The webinar featured presentations from two distinguished experts in the field of malaria research: Col. Prof. Mathirut Mungthin from the Department of Pharmacology at Promongkutklao College of Medicine, Thailand, and Dr. Nurhidanatasha Abu Baker from the School of Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Both speakers shared their expertise and provided updates on key issues related to antimalarial drug resistance and the exploration of medicinal plants for new antimalarial compounds.
