MUEANG, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 22 May 2025 – Walailak University, through the Center for Academic Services, led by Lecturer Alisara Saramolee and Lecturer Watcharawat Promma, conducted a visit to Wang Tawan Tok Temple as part of the project “Temple Administration Aligning with Good Governance.”
The project aims to enhance temple administration practices in accordance with good governance principles, guided by the nine Buddhist principles of good governance introduced by the Foundation for Public Policy and Good Governance. It also seeks to promote efficient temple management by reducing unnecessary duties for monks, thereby fostering standardized, transparent, and accountable operations. Wang Tawan Tok Temple has been selected as the pilot temple under this initiative, serving as a model for other temples across Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
During the visit, the lecturers engaged in discussions with the temple’s staff on accounting audits, financial management systems, and recommendations for revising expense regulations. These efforts are designed to align the temple's administrative practices with the nine Buddhist principles of good governance.
This project contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting knowledge in governance and administrative management; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering well-managed and transparent religious institutions; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by building collaborative networks to support sustainable community development.
