The signing ceremony took place today (19 June 2025) at the Mokkhalan Conference Room, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building, with representatives from both institutions in attendance.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, said, “Today marks a significant milestone in our academic journey as we formalize a relationship that has blossomed through collaboration over the years.”

“This MoU is more than just a formal agreement. It reflects a mutual commitment to strengthening academic ties, advancing joint research, promoting student and faculty exchanges, and contributing to the betterment of global health and well-being.”

“We believe that through shared goals and collaboration, both institutions will grow stronger - academically, culturally, and socially,” said President Sombat.

The five-year MoU, signed by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University; Professor Sunazuka Toshiaki, President of Kitasato University; Associate Professor Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Dean of WU’s School of Allied Health Sciences; and Professor Ichikawa Takafumi, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences at Kitasato University, focuses on the exchange of faculty, staff, and researchers; joint research projects; student exchange; delivery of lectures; organization of symposiums; and the exchange of academic information and materials.

Meanwhile, the five-year MoA, signed by the President of Kitasato University and the Deans of both Schools of Allied Health Sciences, aims to promote bilateral student training through educational and cultural exchange programs lasting from two weeks to three months, with credits transferable to students’ home universities.

As part of the strong relationship between the two institutions, students from Walailak University’s International Medical Technology Program are sent annually to Kitasato University to gain hands-on research experience. Faculty members from both institutions have also collaborated on joint research projects aimed at advancing knowledge and innovation in allied health sciences. The recent visit by Kitasato University faculty members not only provided a valuable opportunity to explore future collaborations but also fostered activities designed to strengthen skills and broaden the perspectives of both students and staff.
